Hey hunters and welcome to my post where we will check out my three best duck hunting boots to keep the feet dry with this year. As we know, duck hunting is often a wet proposition hence a good pair of hunting boots is often considered essential equipment. Not only can they keep your feet dry, but also warm too.
But of course there are plenty of options to choose from out there so to help you out, I have had a good look around and come up with three decent options below.
Let’s check them out…
My three recommended duck hunting boots
I will review these in more detail below, but if you just want to get moving without all the carry-on, my recommended products are listed here for your convenience:

What are duck hunting boots?
With all due respect, duck hunting boots are essentially fancy gum boots designed to keep your feet warm and dry as you stalk the swamplands. They are usually made of vulcanized rubber, waterproof and lined with a good sole grip for added stability as well.

What should you be looking for?
The following factors should be considered as you look for a good pair of boots for your duck hunting needs.
- Durability
- Comfort
- Insulation
- Weight
- Additions
Durability
The durability of duck hunting boots should always be taken into account due to their intended use. Look for boots that are made of vulcanized rubber which is an incredibly durable substance which will handle the wet and damp of duck hunting.
Others are made of neoprene which is another extremely strong and durable rubber compound with many purposes such as gaskets, cable jackets, tubing, O-rings, seals, tire-sidewalls, gasoline hoses, wetsuits, and orthopedic braces.
Comfort
Even through they are essentially gumboots, keep in mind that when duck hunting, you will be spending a bit of time walking in them. For that reason, look for options that provide cushioning and support where appropriate.
Proper insulation will keep your feet from getting too cold and manufacturers typically add a plush inside liner that reduces odor buildup while enhancing comfort as well.
Insulation
The majority of manufacturers provide rubber hunting boots with various levels of insulation which is indicated by numbers such as 200g, 800g and 1200g, etc. The insulation is thicker when the boots have a higher number.
While boots with 200g or 400g ratings are better suited for early or spring season hunts or if you perform a lot of mobile/spot-and-stalk hunting, boots with higher levels like 1200g or 1600g often function best for freezing, stationary hunts.

Weight
Rubber doesn’t weigh much at all however you should, if at all possible, choose boots that are lightweight to make moving around in them much more uncomplicated.
Lightweight footwear is also better in muddy conditions as well.
Additions
Other potential additions include:
- Anti-slip sole: Slippery terrain is common sight during waterfowl hunting which could lead to accidents. The anti-slip sole of the duck hunting boots prevents this from happening, so you are safe wading the muddy field.
- Camouflaged: Duck boots that blend with the surroundings could be an add-on you might consider as you chase prized ducks.
- Warranty: This feature guarantees the buyer that the product is in excellent condition, without any damage at all, upon its purchase.
